Thank you, Drici. If you like nature, you've come to the right place! It's mostly nature, and not very much of the et cetera. ;-)

Indi: I don't know which photo you are referring to. If you know the name of the photographer, you would have get in touch with him/her to ask permission to use the photo. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

Poppy,
I just found several of my wild horse photos that you seem to have stolen and posted without my permission from my Pbase.com/muddyboots website. All of the images are copyrighted and it is illegal to post or use them without my consent.
I have e-mailed this site directly with my complaint and expect that they will take action. I also expect you to delete my images and cease stealing them from me.
As you can tell, I am very angry that you would steal my photos, and I would kick your ass if you were standing in front of me.

Dear D. Brent Young (Muddyboots): I am deeply sorry if I have made you upset and angry when my motive was to give your wonderful photographs of the wild horses of Utah a wider audience because I don't believe that the thousands and thousands of people that have seen them here would have found them otherwise. // I have not sold the images, nor have I profited by them in any way. On the other side of the coin: displaying your work here could, in fact, result in profit for you, and also highlight the wild horses that - clearly - you so much love. // Why don't YOU post some pictures here yourself? Pixdaus viewers would be grateful... as you see from the votes your pictures have received over time, your work is very much admired! // Almost all pictures here on Pixdaus have been posted by people other than the photographers. We search for them all over the Internet. In order for you to have better protection for your pictures, you should affix the copyright notice to each and every picture, accompanied by "All right reserved". I do not post pictures that have the copyright on the picture, and I credit the photographer (unlike most of the posters here). // The posting of your wonderful photos here has not harmed their commercial value in any way, on the contrary, they have been given a wider audience and thus their commercial value may even increase due to the added exposure. As your pictures already were on the Internet, available to ever tom, dick and harry, you have made them available to the whole world, and it is somewhat naive to think that Pixdaus is the only other place apart from your own site that your pictures can be found... // As to the removal of the pictures, I have no means of doing that. Pixdaus forwarded your email to me and asked me for the urls of the pictures, and I gave them the url of the picture under which you originally commented regarding poppy stealing your pictures. http://pixdaus.com/single.php?id=65100#read_c --- It would speed up the process of removal if you send Pixdaus the urls of the other pictures, since you know which ones they are. // Once more, I am sorry that you think I have 'stolen' your photos. If I were standing in front you and you intended to kick me, please clean the mud off your boots first. // Keep taking your excellent pictures! Sincerely, poppy

I was about to ask if all these pictures that you have posted were your own work but the above comment answers the question. You can expect all negative votes from me from now on and I hope most REAL photographers will follow my lead

To Ralph m: None of the pictures is my work, which should be obvious since the names of the photographers are on the pictures. I don't have over two thousand names. // Who are the REAL photographers who will follow your lead in voting down the pictures I post? You cannot possibly mean the posters who don't bother to credit the photographers whose work they post? // The top ten posters on Pixdaus have posted close to 20,000 photos, and only a small number of those pictures have the names of the photographers on them. Why? Because the posters are too lazy (or whatever) to post the names. // You have posted 2 pictures, I see. Are they your own work? If so, good for you, but how is it possible that you are under the impression that Pixdaus posters post their own pictures? 99.9% of the posters do not, we find the pictures all over the Internet. // So, good luck with your effort of finding the REAL photographers to follow your lead. // Meanwhile, downvote all you want, in doing so you are belittling the work of some of the best photographers of the world.

To STOP: Who are you? You are pretending to be new here as you have only posted 7 photos and written 7 comments, but I don't believe that you are a newcomer. Your instant poppybashing by at least 5 of your comments (I’ve only seen 5 of the 7) says otherwise. You've been here quite a while, and obviously your new name has been taken in order to spread illwill, lies and innuendos around and - how conveniently - poppy is the target. // You have a very short memory. I, as poppy, started the ‘war’ against cheating, mainly directing it at artemis at the time. Then others joined in, namely R*E*A*L in regard to artemis, and later ok began a war against farhad and is now also engaging in a feud with artmani. You are accusing me of being R*E*A*L and ok as well! Sorry to disappoint you but, unlike some other people around here (yourself included), I have the cojones to fight my own battles under my own name. // As you wrote 2 of your comments in the file of artemis, with essentially the same content as here - that poppy is R*E*A*L and ok - then perhaps YOU are artemis? I told ok that you said I am he, and he thought it hugely funny. // You are accusing me of cheating and are basing that wild assumption on the following: one picture of mine experienced an upsurge of 15 votes overnight (so you say). Well, hurrah, in FAR LESS TIME than ‘overnight’ for example eibar’s pictures today experienced an upsurge of up to +34 votes, so what the blazes are you talking about? (This is NOT a slur on eibar, I am merely using the voting on his/her pics comparatively.) // So, STOP, why don’t you just either quietly fade away, or else start posting more pictures; they’re rather good.

I cannot say anything about other voters, but I have voted positive for most of your pics and negative for none, and I have done absolutely nothing to you whatsoever, so how come I am one of the reasons you left?

Most of these posters sound angry. I'm not. Obviously, you got one of my photos (Anhinga), which I asked Pixdaus to remove, from FlickR. I had a Creative Commons license there, so you were on safe ground.
I am not against wider exposure, but I am old fashioned guy—I think it is plain rude to use something that belongs to someone else without first asking. That was perfectly possible for you to do, as my address is available there. It is called courtesy, Poppy.
As a result, I have reserved all rights on my FlickR photos, something I didn't want to do, as anyone else that I know of has asked to use one of my photos. I'm sorry that you didn't.

Dear Mr Hodgkins,
99.99% of the posters on Pixdaus do not post their own photos. We find the pictures all over the Internet. There are only a handful of posters like myself who accredit the photographers, thus we are the ones who get 'mail' from the authors while the majority of the posters are left alone. If they don't mention the author names, the pictures cannot be traced. I have no idea which site I had taken your photo from, but it was NOT FlicR photos because it is a site I never visit. It seems that there has been 'leakage' to other sites also. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused you.

You're right. The only place I had placed this particular picture was on Nature Photographer's Network. There the picture is fronted by a blank GIF reference as protection. You either have some means of finding the jpeg out of the source code, or you used a screen capture. I have all rights reserved on that site, and you have violated those rights. Which makes you and others like you, attribution or no, just a thief.

I was partially wrong. The smaller image is protected. The larger image is not, but you are given a notice of copyright, and expressly warned not to copy the image. You are a thief, and worse, a caught thief. Shame on you!

As your work is on the Internet for billions of people to see, don't you think that some of it can find its way into all manner of sites all around the world? I did not find it on Nature Photographer's. The pictures that we upload here are for personal use and not for any kind of commercial use. According to most copyright laws, in case of personal use it is a common practice just to ask for removal. The picture has been removed, I have apologized, so there's nothing more to be done.

Poppy, you are causing a great deal of consternation amongst onexposure members by continually taking their photographs. I'm sure you must be aware by now that we do not like it, since you've had some removed now. I think it should be clear that it's not a good place for you to be taking photos from, so it would be greatly appreciated if you would stop. Even if you give the name of the photographer, it's not enough. It seems to me that taking photos without permission from anywhere that are not your own is a bad idea. Linking to the original is one thing, copying them is quite another. Judging from the comments here, you've upset quite a few photographers. Maybe you should consider whether what you are doing is the right way to go.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Interesting read here. I\'m interested in starting a visual blog featuring photos and other kinds of visuals. I love the stuff on this site, but the fact that few of them credit the photographer is a problem. I do not wish to use anything without permission. How does one go about finding out who the photog is when it is nowhere to be found in the photo itself, or in the \"info\" area when the photo is opened in Photoshop? I would appreciate any advice from genuine photogs here as to where to find who owns the copyrights to these pics. Or, alternatively, if they cannot be tracked down, where can one find awesome photo sites like this where the photographers ARE credited? I\'m all ears.

I'm all ears too. I like to know the source and locale of photos - I think it is important to acknowledge the photographer. If the poster really does not know the tag should say so -"unknown"

Poppy,
I have just come across three of my images which you have posted without my permission. I understand that you do not mean any harm, however I do not approve of the use of my images without my permission. If you could please remove all images by Wayne Simpson I would appreciate it very much. I will be checking back to be sure the images are removed. I\'m assuming that you took these images from naturephotographers.net and you should know that there is a copyright notice on that site. Thank you for promptly removing MY images.

I just came upon my "Ducklings" picture that you obviously have taken from Flickr. If you had bothered to check the licence, you had seen that it says "All rights reserved", meaning no one can use the picture without my permission. Since you haven't asked me (or obviously many others that you have stolen pictures from), I want you to remove the picture immediately. And I also want a suggestion on how much you will pay me for your unlawful breach of my copyright.

Poppy, methinks that there is an orchestrated campaign against you! There is a surprising sameness about most of these letters.
As an aside, as I surf the net and find photographs, most sites that are concerned about their copyrights have made it clear by blocking the downloading of images. Easy to do and there are many software programs out there that will do it for almost nothing. So if someone is that concerned about "theft" why havn't they taken the trouble to make this simple adjustment.
It clearly states on the front page of Pixdaus that if any photographer feels that there work is here without there permission all they have to do is send an emali to Pixdaus and it will be removed.
I agree with Poppy in the fact that any artwork here is much to the benefit of the artist. This is a free to the public gallery that showcases to the entire planet (I would love to see the view counter on this site for just one day). My point being, that if you are a professional photographer or a hopeful amature, by posting here your potential audiance is increased by leaps and bounds. I have already seen that happen with one of the photo's I displayed here (not my own) and the original photographer will be recieving business from the added exposure.
In conclusion I would imagine that it would be impossible to count the number of sites on the net that show photography. Pixdaus is one of the better ones, but there are litteraly thousands that do this. If you look back through the pages of Pixdaus you will find duplicates by the hundreds if not thousands. Just because picture A that I find on sight B and have never seen it before doesn't mean that it doesn't exist on 30 or more other sites. Some of the pictures on this site I saw on the web when I started surfing in 1996!
So Poppy, hang in there...and fight the (insert inappropriate remark here)!

To all you complaining photographers: What a load of whining old spinsters are you photographers complaining about? (With due respect to the integrity of real-life spinsters.) As Poppy has explained, and as a creator myself, you should not only be proud but honoured, when you are named as the photographer, that your pictures are given a wider audience by the tens of thousands from exposure on Pixdaus. The question has to be asked: "have you nothing better to do than to scroll through the Internet trying to track down your photos on the hundreds of photo sites?

I just discovered an image of mine that was somehow found and posted by "poppy" This very same image is in a Stock Image Bank and sold on a commission basis. So as you can imagine this has just potentialy taken money out of my pocket.

I have visited this site back some weeks now, still passing throgh pictures, i like to admire the magnificent world around. I am thankful for the ones posted such amazing pictures! And i thank you poppy for great selection!
poppy, the reason i came write on your page here was to tell you that you are from few i see here that credits the owners, and i found that a careful act actually. I got sad to see the comments here are exactly reverse from what i expected. Actually yes it would be nice ask before for the permission but i found the acusses being too hard!
For the ones asking for rights. I am here to see the pictures, i never had any atempt copy them and especially the ones are specified with name of photographer as i know i have no right doing that. They are such an inspiration for me as i am interested in photography to learn more. The idea from this site is not bad just that they may fix some things as disabling the posibility to copy a picture, and when uploading should request author\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s name.
I agree that internet is \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'huge jungle\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\', there are million pictures shared in packs through bittorrent and share sites that you never know they were stollen since you cannot trace them.
It\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s understandable to ask for your work rights and people should ask before for the permission as is normal and healthy to do in any business, but don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t put all your anger about copyright issue on one person who credits you! Save your energy to find solutions for the real internet stealing problem.
